My interest with the Ashman family stems from the probability that the first Ashmans arrived in Tasmania with some of my Barkers as they were step related. Ashmans also married into my Barker family after their arrival in Tasmania.

John ASHMAN born 1820 CAM ENG, died 1846 CAM ENG married:
Susannah MARSH born c1823 CAM ENG. Susannah remarried a widower:
John BARKER born c1827 CAM ENG died 1874 TAS AUS.
John Barker was previously married to Sarah PEARSON.

Susannah together with her new husband John Barker her three Ashman children and his two Barker children, and John's brother Stephen, came to Tasmania some time before April 1856. John Barker's father Robert was already living in Cleveland Tasmania as a convict. John settled there with his family and step-family.

1. Rebecca ASHMAN born 1841 CAM ENG, died 1920 TAS AUS. Rebecca married James BRATTEN.
2. George ASHMAN born c1844 CAM ENG, died 1924 TAS AUS. George first married Eliza De Costa JOHNSON. After Eliza's death George remarried to Mary Ann McORMOND.
3. John ASHMAN born c1846 CAM ENG. John married Louisa BARKER his step-father's daughter.

1. Louisa BARKER born c1850 CAM ENG, married John ASHMAN her step-mother's son.
2. Frances BARKER born c1851 CAM ENG, died 1926 TAS AUS, married George PINNINGTON.

1. Lucy BARKER born 1856 TAS AUS, died 1889 TAS AUS. Lucy married William Joseph SOUTHERWOOD.
2. Robert BARKER born 1858 TAS AUS, died 1926 TAS AUS. Robert first married Grace EAST. After Grace's death Robert remarried to Mary Jane McGILLVRAY.
