More imformation on Lt. James Grant
Recently found more about Lt. James Grant RN.
Firstly I found where he was taken by the French in May 1804 in attempting to cut out a vessel in the Waser in a boat with 11 men belonging to HMS cutter the Hawke, which he commander, and in the attempt he was wounded 5 times and several of his gallant followers were killed or wonded.

This is believed to be his son James jnr: A medal was awarded in 1826 James Grant aged 15, son of a captain of an English Ship, for saving the life of a French sailor. (I have a photo of this medal)
Anther small mention about James jnr:
James Grant (adm pension) at Pembroke May 24 1838. Eldest son of James Grant Esq. of St. Servan France. Born at Worthing Sessex. Passed his Maths in 1838 and received his BA in 1843.

Then only yesterday I received an email from England with the information of James Grant sen wife Ann's death and where she is buried in France (not very far from where her husband was buried)
A book is being written by the lady in England about the 300 Anglophone residents buried in this area. She is still working through the graves in the of Servan and other places. It will be written in bilingual and will be called "Dinan La colonie anglaise 1800-1939"
